Fair Energy Transition Webinar Series – Webinar 1 – Prof. Dr. Darren McCauley

The last Thursday of each month between 16h and 17h (Dutch time; UTC+01:00), we invite a speaker to present their work on the fair energy transition. This first month, Prof. Dr. Darren McCauley has kindly accepted our invitation.
Darren McCauley is full professor in the Management of International Social Challenges at Erasmus University Rotterdam (EUR). He is also academic director of the Erasmus Initiative and strategic research pillar Global Social Challenges (GSC). Darren leads the GSC research group on five themes including climate and energy which includes 6 assistant professors, 1 associate professor and currently 8 researchers. He is also member of the Fair Energy Transitions Center. He holds a MSc in Applied Business and PhD in Political Science. His research agenda has been funded by a wide range of external sponsors including (among others) British Academy, ESRC, EPSRC (now RCUK), GCRF, H2020 and Horizon Europe funding programmes, Leverhulme, Dutch Council NWO, UK Energy Research Centre, the Carnegie Trust and the Royal Society of Edinburgh. He has national and international experience in just transition including contributing to the Scottish just transition commission, national strategies on justice in the Arctic and World Energy Council scenarios. He is currently coordinating EUR’s role on Horizon projects JUSTNORTH (6.2 million euros) and PROBONO (26.4 million euros).
In the first webinar, Prof. McCauley will present some of his work in a presentation entitled: Sustainability, justice and energy in Sub-Saharan Africa.
